I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and early on became interested in music. Since then it's been an important part of my life. I’ve been a member of several rock bands ever since I was 16 years old.
I studied Audiovisuals, and dedicated to that for a long time. Ten years ago I became interested in the construction of musical instruments.
With no formal education about it, I started building instruments. Fortunately, along the way I've found selfless and generous professionals who have given me the passion, enthusiasm and sense of rigor that today are the main tools that allow me to do of this, not only my main interest, but my way of life.
I think that in this business, you never stop learning and that is perhaps what I like the most.
Thus, I want to offer my humble opinion about musical instruments.
When my brother, the Designer Damian Vila, and I began looking for a new logo, I knew I wanted to integrate a floral design in it, common in the tradition of inlaid string instruments. And we chose the Cockspur Coral Tree flower (Erythrina crista-galli), the national flower of Argentina (also Uruguay) that we liked not only for that, but also for its vivid coral color.
During the design phase, we saw that the stylized flower was very similar to a small flame.
In different cultures and mythologies ,fire is associated with eternity and intellect. I personally find these two elements in the music, especially eternity. People who love music, do it forever.
I couldn't find anything more appropriate to put into a musical instrument.
